There are some significant differences between written and spoken English. This is often why people coming to English as a second language have such difficulties with it. Never-the-less anything that you write should be read and not just read quietly to yourself but read out loud.
English is not a language designed for the page: it’s important to give it voice by reading it aloud and hearing the sound of it. There is very little that is written that doesn’t need to be read aloud.

The act of reading the written word aloud has and interesting and amazing effect. It is no coincidence that many of the world’s religions talk about the power of words. One such religious book starts:

“In the beginning was the Word …”

Try it next time you write something: speak it out loud and see what happens.
